Cincinnati catches Stoops' attention (AP)
Fri, 05 Sep 2008 13:52:57 PDT-Even growing up in Ohio, Bob Stoops admits he never paid much attention to the football program at the University of Cincinnati. In Youngstown, he was caught between Cleveland and Pittsburgh and his mind seldom wandered to the opposite end of the state. "Youngstown's a long way from Cincinnati," said Stoops, who is Oklahoma's head coach.

Oklahoma Team Report (Yahoo! Sports)
Wed, 03 Sep 2008 01:52:27 PDT-

One week into the season and things are quiet on the Oklahoma front. Sort of, in that "no news is good news" kind of way.

The fourth-ranked Sooners are coming a 57-2 whitewash of Tennessee-Chattanooga that confirmed everything everybody was pretty sure they already knew—OU remains strong at quarterback, running back and receiver.

Yet even as the defense pitched a shutout, none of the preseason questions were put to rest after one game. The Sooners also seem to understand the answers will start coming this week against the Bearcats, who, though unranked, have apparently made believers out of the Sooners.

Quarterback Sam Bradford was asked if all the first-week upsets did a favor for OU (1-0) with a dangerous Cincinnati (1-0) team on the way to Norman and his...

Stoops: DE Williams may not return for Oklahoma (AP)
Mon, 01 Sep 2008 20:24:43 PDT-Defensive end John Williams, a former starter who received a sixth year of eligibility from the NCAA, may not return to play his final season for No. 4 Oklahoma. "Right now, John's just mentally having a hard time staying with it, and right now we don't anticipate him rejoining the team," Sooners coach Bob Stoops said Monday after practice.

Cincinnati catches Stoops' attention
Fri, 05 Sep 2008 21:27:54 GMT-Even growing up in Ohio, Bob Stoops admits he never paid much attention to the football program at the University of Cincinnati. In Youngstown, he was caught between Cleveland and Pittsburgh and his mind seldom wandered to the opposite end of the state. "Youngstown's a long way from Cincinnati," said Stoops, who is Oklahoma's head coach. "It's a good 4 1/2 to five hours. I'm up in the northeast corner and they're down in the south edge." This week, he has reason to pay heed.
